Welfare Rights Officer

While our advisers can assist with the initial stages of a benefits dispute such as a mandatory reconsideration, should an appeal progress to the tribunal stage Moray CAB can provide specialist support with the tribunal stage.  Our Welfare Rights Officer can help with first tier tribunal applications for a variety of DWP benefits including:

  • Personal Independence Allowance (PIP)
  • Attendance Allowance (AA)
  • Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
  • Universal Credit (UC)
  • Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Job Seekers Allowance (JSA)

This list is not exhaustive, if you have an appeal for a benefit not listed please get in touch to discuss if we can provide assistance.  Our Welfare Rights Officer can assist by:

  • Explaining the process involved during the first tier tribunal hearings
  • Formulating and submitting written submissions
  • Identifying clients that need further assistance following a first tier tribunal
  • Making appropriate internal and external referrals for follow-on service

The Welfare Rights Officer can accept a case once a tribunal information pack has been received.  This is sent to the claimant by the DWP once the tribunal service notifies them of an application.  This is normally a bulky pack with 80+ pages.  Please do not wait until you receive your tribunal date to contact us as this may not leave enough time to arrange assistance.
